2019 July 17 Haiti

Hi Everyone, I will title this email: “ONLY IN HAITI”  HA!

Guys this is another email that  while I’m typing I am shaking my head ha! There is no doubt in my mind that when our Lord calls me off the mission field I am going to write a book Ha!

So as some of you know here in Grand Goave we have been getting electricity 14 hours per week for the past year, that’s right 14 hours per week.  Lately it has been down to 11 hours per week, let me explain.

The government is very upset with Grand Goave because 70% of the homes do not pay their electric bill. Most homes illegally  tap into other homes that actually pay their bills, us being one of the paying customers.  They run wires from their homes and splice them into the paying customers lines, they unhook them during the day and attach them at night.

So the main government threatened our local mayor here in Grand Gove saying that if he didn’t get these problems looked after they would remove all electricity from our town. Electricity is supplied to Grand Goave via a large Caterpillar diesel generator situated at a generator station located between here and the next town west of us.

Each generator produces power to a local area, if your town doesn’t pay its electricity bill to the government (Haiti Electric) then they are slow to turn run your generator.  So today our Mayor got a tip from a government snitch in Port au Prince Ha!
The mayor was told that because this situation hadn’t been dealt with the government was sending a truck to come get the Grand Goave generator and bring it back to Port au Prince.  The informant gave him  an exact description of the truck that would be coming to get the generator so the mayor got in touch with our towns main gagster, he is a close friend of the mayors Ha!

Now there is only one highway to the generator station and it goes right through our town.  So the gangster rounded up his posse and they all headed for the main highway.  They waited some time and sure enough the informant was right, here comes the truck that fits the description.

So the mob just sits on the side of the road and lets the truck pass, 1 hour later here it comes with the Generator loaded behind it.  Upon seeing the truck the mob instantly takes to the streets blocking its path, the driver knew the gig was up but he wasn’t giving up that easily Ha!

He slowed the truck down a bit then floored it Ha!, unfortunately for the driver he slowed the truck down too much and his turbo didn’t kick in (Ha! Ha!) thus allowing the gang guys to jump onto the truck.

With guns pointed at the driver and his 2 passengers he reluctantly pulled over.  The gang guys told him to drive to city hall where the mayor was waiting, as they were pointing their guns at him they gave him directions.

Now city hall is 150 feet from our house and I see at least 100 people running by the front of our house. The mayor was waiting and he directed the driver to our local police station where the chief of police would meet him. (I use the term Chief of Police very loosely).  Upon arrival the police chief makes the driver unhook the generator right in front of the police station, then tells him to get outa Dodge before the crowd turns on him. The driver then takes off into the sunset Ha! Ha!

God help this country

2019 May 12 – Haiti Report

Well I am back to about 95% after my accident, by end of next week I should be fully recovered.
Our Lord continues to Bless our Kids Prison Ministry, two weeks ago we had 4 of the boys profess faith in Christ.
This morning I had a nice visit from one of the boys we led to the Lord about 1 month ago.
As some of you may know I had Frantz go see one the main Judges in the town where the boys are being held.
He was aware of our visits with the boys so Frantz was able to discuss with him about allowing some of them to be released.
Not 2 weeks after that meeting one of the boys (Ricardo) was released and showed up at my door.
We were able to buy him some clothes so he could attend Church, he is doing great and drops by to see me regularly
This morning a knock on the door and there is Dieufils( God’s son in creole).
He was released 3 days ago and came to Thank us for our Prayers and support while he was in prison.
He had spent 13 months in jail for fighting and told me this morning he is now a different person thanks to Jesus.
He lives in the town where the jail is and has found a church he wants to attend, before he could say any more I told him “Just a minute”
I then gave him a gift that would allow Dieufils to buy some clothes so he could attend church.
He gave me a hug and I then I asked for his phone number, will keep in touch with him to see how he is doing.
Please keep the boys in your Prayers
Lord Bless
PS: Dieuflis is the boy behind bars standing in the middle with a white shirt.

Haiti Update – January 2019

Hello everyone,

I hope you and your families had both a Blessed CHRISTmas and New Years.

This year we continued with our annual mountain outreach ministry held from Dec 26 till the 30th.
We fellowship with the Brothers and Sisters of our mountain Churches and Bless them with the word and a Christmas dinner.

It all started with delivering gifts to the children that attend out kids clubs, Samaritans purse has supplied me with all the shoe-boxes needed for our schools and churches.

During our time up there with other Brothers and Sisters we go door to door to evangelize and invite the unsaved to come hear the Gospel. Because of the sheer difficulty in reaching some of these people where they live I hire a local Brother and his donkey to ride around the mountain tops with a megaphone inviting people to come out
We had people that walked 2 hours just to attend our outreach because they heard the megaphone, you would not believe how sound travels down that steep mountain terrain.

For me this had to be the most successful humbling outreach we have had yet, mostly do in part to the film series King of Glory. A couple years back I was invited to speak at some Florida assemblies staying with a host family. While talking with Calvin about our Ministry I explained to him about how much the Jesus film impacted the mountain people.

You need to understand that most of the mountain people we disciple have never seen a movie or even know what one is. To be able to go up there and show the Jesus film in there own native language was a real Blessing to them, it helped them “Get it”.

Calvin then told me about a video series called “King of Glory” www.rockintl.org It was the entire bible from Genesis to Revelation in animation geared towards children, as I have told you most mountain adults relate better to the way children’s bible stories are written than adult ones.

He then showed it to me and like most good biblical films out there it was not available in Haitian Creole. Calvin then put me in touch with one of the founders of KOG and after explaining to him about our mountain ministry he gave us permission to have the series translated into Haitian Creole.

Brother Calvin talked with some other Churches and together they financed the entire translation process, we were able to find a good studio here in Haiti that completed the work. Pastor Enoc whom works with me and speaks very good English translated the entire series. To give you an idea on how this film impacted the mountain people you need to realize a couple of things first. Approximately 70 to 80% of the mountain people cannot read or write, if you cannot read scripture how can you learn or grow spiritually. How can you understand GOD!!!

Another problem is that you have to believe what people tell you, how can you search the scriptures to make sure what you are hearing is truth. Like I have mentioned,70% of the so called Pastors I have met do not know the Lord.

This is especially true when the so called “Pastor” you listened to on Sunday is also attending voodoo ceremonies through the week at the local temple. We had some ladies from another community travel 2 hours to come see the film, when it was finished they came up to us and said “They lied to us” They attend a Catholic Church that is in their area.

So to be able to go to these mountain people and show them a movie in their own language that explains salvation clearly is a huge Blessing to them.

Most mountain people have never seen a movie in their life or even know what one is.
When you turn on the projector everyone goes into shock, the room becomes silent as 200 people stare at the figures that they are seeing on the bed-sheet hanging on the wall.

The film begins and they are just mesmerized by what they are watching,as I told some of you when we first showed the Jesus film we had a woman walk up to the bed-sheet we used as the screen and look behind it thinking the people she was watching were actually behind the bed-sheet.

Because of the visual effect the film has on the mountain people they listen intensely to understand what they are seeing. For me it was so humbling to know that they were now able to understand more clearly what we have been saying to them over the years.

Yes “Faith comes by hearing”

So now some of the people from other communities that attended our outreach have invited us to come show the film in their community. For the next 2 months we will be showing the KOG and sharing the Gospel to other remote mountain communities.

We are so Blessed to be part of what GOD is doing in the mountains of Haiti. Thank you all so much for your Prayers and support.

In Him

PS” Pictures of us showing the film were too dark, will get a good camera and send some next time

Haiti Report #14

I have been a little slow lately. My computer crashed and I was without it for a week while the mechanic fixed it. Seems to be working okay, for now!!

Not sure if I told report-14_img_1you but since we held our outreach the later part of last year we have planted 1 new church and 2 kids clubs with another Church on the way.

The Lord is really Blessing HIS work through us as we are having people come to Christ literally every Sunday. This past Sunday I was preaching and was really humbled by how much they were paying attention.

One thing about living here full time is that you really get to knowreport-14_img_6 the people there fore you learn ways to properly disciple them. For instance with the mountain people Al, they are all basically farmers with gardens and animals. I was telling them that once you are saved you cannot go back to the way you use to live. You cannot say you are a Christian yet continue to live as you had. To describe this in a manner that they could all understand I told them they cannot be like baby pigs that have just been washed and then return to the mud report-14_img_4to get dirty again.

Al it was like a light went on in their head, you should have seen the reaction!!

Another time I was preaching at another church plant we have and I was talking report-14_img_5about bearing the mark of Christ, it went right over their head till I described it like this. You know Al when farmers brand their cattle for identification, well the mountain people do the same thing. So when I described to them about bearing the mark of Christ that way they got it. HE knows HIS sheep!!!!

Anyway Brother it has been a Blessing to see how GOD is moving amongst the mountain people.
Today we are delivering our last batch of coffee plants to some of the families I have been working with.

Construction on the radio station should start again next week, the road is almost finished.

Al please Thank everyone for their Prayers and support.

Lord Bless

Tony Jones

PS: Last Sunday we were able to hand out some food to the entire congregation

Haiti Report #12

Tony with "Example"
Tony with “Example”

Report # 12 From: Tony Jones – Haiti

Sorry for the delay in letting you know how our 3 day outreach went I had a cold mixed with a little Asama while I was up there and the cold damp mountains sure didn’t help.

Needless to say say we had such a Blessed time and will now be going back up there  on a regular basis. The first day Franz drove Enoc and Edward up to where we were holding our outreach, they preached that night in a school we were using. They told me that about 20 people showed up the first night as many did not know we were coming.

The next day Franz came down to get me while Enoc and Edward preached over the loud speaker during the day telling everyone to come out. So that night was movie night (The Jesus film) and it was standing room only. We had about 70 people crammed into this room, most told us they heard Enoc and Edward that day over the loud speaker so they came out. There was a man there I had helped about a year ago while travelling through his area, his name is “Example” in English. He had brought 6 people with him from his community, they walked 2 1/2 hours one way to come see us. As before when I have showed this film many people were moved and once the film was finished Edward preached for about 15 minutes. During that time we had 6 people receive Christ and about 50 raised their hands who were interested to hear more. So we told them to come to Church in the morning.

During the showing of the Jesus film there was a leader from the Catholic Church in attendance, it is the only church up there. He apparently went to some of his congregation and told them about us. Sunday attending our service was about half of that Catholic Church, it was a full house.

It was truly a Blessing for me to see Enoc and Edward preaching the truth with such confidence and authority, they really got to these people. After the service was over none of them left but asked question after question after question. While they were asking their questions we had prepared a hot meal for them all and fed them.

Also there on Sunday was Example again, this time he brought more from his community. Before we left about 60 in attendance begged us to please come back so beginning in January we will be going up there every Sunday to minister to these people.

Franz, his Brother Jordani, Enoc, Edward and Tony. Please keep these men in your Prayers I truly believe God is going to use them to bring Glory to Himself among the mountain people.
Franz, his Brother Jordani, Enoc, Edward and Tony.
Please keep these men in your Prayers
I truly believe God is going to use them to bring Glory to Himself among the mountain people.

Now after we got back the next day Example shows up at my door, he had traveled 9 hours to come see me.  He is the main government leader in his community and a solid Christian. That is me with my arm around him. He told me he had been trying for years to have someone come to his community to preach the Gospel, nobody wanted to come up. He knew I was the only one working in the mountains and he literally begged me and Enoc to please come and minister to his community. His area is another 2 1/2 hour donkey ride from where we held our outreach. He said “Brother Tony” I am willing to build a road all the way to our community just so it will be easier for you to come preach the Gospel to my people. Instantly GOD put on my heart to say “Yes we will come” I said “Example it would be a Blessing to come to your community, of course we will come. He started to tear-up which of course made me tear-up, it was a Blessed time.

Starting the first week of January 80 men from his area will start building a 7klm road to reach his community. After they are done they will then go another 5 klm to another area where I have been helping so that we can reach those people with the Gospel. For their efforts I will be supplying the food to keep them going.

In 2008 when I started working in the mountains the mountain people in that area did the same thing, they built a road to make it easier for me to reach them. It then took me 5 hours to reach them but now that the road is built it takes me only 2 hours, this is where I am building the radio station.

Brothers and Sisters the Lord is moving amongst the mountains in Haiti.

Thank you so much for your Prayers and support …..GOD is good.

Haiti Report #11

Haite Report #11 – December 12, 2016

Hi Everyone

As most of you know my heart has been with the mountain people that live above Grand Goave. With a total population of around 115,000 only 7% actually live in the town, the remaining 93% live in the mountains.

In the town of Grand Goave we have 22 Missions, 7 radio stations, 10 orphanages, 1 hospital, 6 clinics and approximately 25 schools. All of these are servicing 7% of the population, in the mountains where the remaining 93% live there are schools which the mountain people have built and nothing else.

Since the hurricane I have never seen such suffering in the mountains as I have during these last couple of months. I’m not sure if it’s the extra hardships they are facing since the hurricane or a move of God but I feel something spiritually is changing up there. I have been working in some of the mountain areas for the last 8 years. The first time I witnessed fruits from our labor was about 1 1/2 years into disciplining the men, woman and children.

We are now leading 3 mountain church’s and have seen some remarkable spiritual growth during the last 8 months. But just in the last couple of weeks I am seeing things that just don,t add up. Since the hurricane we have been going into the mountains just about every day taking the people food etc. In my coming up to 10 years here I have never seen such hopelessness in the peoples eyes. Mountain people are really really tough and very rarely cry but during these last couple of months I have seen many tears. 4 weeks ago we delivered food into an area I hadn’t visited before, to give you an idea if you were to walk there it would take you 8 hours

Like always after unloading the Gator and before loading the donkeys so the men can return to their community we sit down with them and begin a conversation. If we only meet their physical needs we are just another charity, as a Christian we must address their spiritual hunger also. I usually start by asking them how their families are, what are their greatest needs and if there is anything we can Pray about for them.

After some conversation we then begin to witness to them as most of the people up there are involved in voodoo. During this conversation I noticed that one of the leaders was really interested in what we were saying, he listened intensely. His name is Victory in English and seemed to be really moved by our conversation. As we finished up he invited us back again in which we relied “No problem we will come see you again”

Well last week he contacted Enoc whom was with me and asked if we could come up to do a 3 day revival in his area. Now Brothers and Sisters this has never happened before, most leaders up in the mountains are usually asking witch doctors to come see them. So I want to ask your Prayers during Dec 23rd, 24th and 25th as we are going up there to do a 3 day revival. I will also be showing them the Jesus film in their native language Creole, no one up there has ever seen a movie or even knows what one is. I truly believe the breath of GOD is going the breath on these souls.

Thanks so much for your Prayers and support.

Lord Bless Tony

Distributing to the Needs of Saints Romans 12:13
Sent forth with the hope that someone will feel the nudge to
keep praying, keep trusting & keep going

Haiti has not recovered from the disastrous 2010 earthquake which caused absolute devastation. On October 4, 2016 it experienced the full impact of Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 storm, and as a result 1,600 lives were lost. Some of the poor living in remote mountainous areas have lost everything including crops that were their only source of income. Galatians 2:10 reminds us of the priority of sharing the gospel in word and deed in a time of need. “They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do.”

Relief efforts have been ongoing in the most difficult to reach places. Tony Jones, from Ontario, has been assisting many from his home base in Grand Goave, Haiti and wrote, “We have been in the mountains just about every day for the last 3 weeks. We are taking up food, Cholera medicine, water treatment additives and tarps and then bringing anyone that is sick down to the hospital. I will begin to purchase animals, seeds for planting, coffee trees, roof sheeting, building supplies, clothes and other essentials that the mountain people need for survival. Last Sunday in one of the areas where I work, we were able to hold our first meeting of the church since the hurricane. I’m also buying bibles and songbooks that were lost during the storm and a horse so some of the Haitians working with me can get around up there.” Updates are posted on the DNS website www.dnsrelief.com

The generosity of the saints from Canada is blessing the work among the unreached parts of India where most of the people are branded as ‘Tribals’.

In the summer of 2015 DNS, in association with Chris Samuel Ministries, initiated a well drilling program to provide access to clean drinking water in remote mountain villages. The wells became an opening for the gospel. In August 2016 one particular village saw 8 new believers come forward to testify for the Lord in baptism. An assembly has started to function there for the first time in the history of this area. A children’s program, bible training and regular outreach is still going on to bless this beginning. A young man from this group has dedicated a half acre of his land for the purpose of establishing a new assembly building. Please pray for the Lord’s guidance.nudgings-december-2016_img_1

In the summer of 2016, we drilled another 12 wells in remote mountain villages to bless the people with drinking water. It soon became evident that a few of these villages were hearing the gospel for the first time in their history. We are hoping to see many more assemblies established in these villages through this drinking water project. Please remember our local workers in this outreach as they continue to visit these villages, preaching the gospel, and teaching the new believers.

Sakeji Mission School, Zambia

Sakeji Mission School has a small workshop and Mark Ronald, the school headmaster, uses it to teach industrial arts (“shop”) to students at the school. Douglas Hanna and a brother in Markham have a vision of enlarging the workshop and equipping it with good tools and equipment in order that the students can learn a variety of life skills and develop a Biblical work ethic. The building expansion has begun on the workshop which will house woodworking equipment including a band saw, lathes, a shaper, thickness planer, a jointer, dust collector, compressor, table saws, sanders and assorted hand tools and work benches. Since electrical equipment that is used in Zambia must meet British standards, a table saw, jointer, bobbin sander, and dust collector have been purchased in England and are on their way to Sakeji. Please pray that the Lord will use this equipment to His glory.nudgings-december-2016_img_2

2016 Haiti Report # 9

2016haiti09Report from Haiti #9 – From Tony Jones
Hello everyone
Well today was the day I have been waiting for, trouble!!!
As you know we have been delivering food and medicine to the mountain people that live above Grand Goave. There are also some very poor areas just across the river here in town so I thought we would help some of them today.

Usually I am the one that drives the Gator, for a couple good reasons. The Haitians are less likely to attack us because they respect a white guy more than their own. If we get surrounded like we did last week I am pretty good at talking my way out of trouble Ha! If I tell them I will come back and bring them food they know I will.

Today I had to get my friend Franz to deliver the food because I had to wait for my boys to come home from school, Edna was working at her uncles Mission.
So Franz loaded up the Gator and started out to deliver the food to one of these poorer areas. When he got to the highway there were 2 motorcycle taxi drivers parked at the corner. They yelled to Franz to give them some food but he said no.

As Franz drove away the motorcycle guys called some of their other motorcycle friends and before Franz knew it he had 10 motorcycles following him. Now the Gator only goes 30 MPH so they easily caught up to Franz, some of the otorcycles had passengers. As they got beside the Gator the passengers started to reach for the food in the back of the Gator. They were pulling small bags of food out so Franz hit the brakes and turned around heading back to town.

The bike guys called ahead and had some more motorcycles waiting for Franz as he went through town. Franz came upon 4 more motorcycles and just kept going almost hitting 2 of them. Now the chase is on and Franz is heading out of town with all these guys chasing him. They caught him and were yelling at him to give them food as he kept driving. Two guys got in front of him to try to slow him down but Franz kept his foot to the floor. One of the motorcycles crashed but Franz just kept driving, now the guys were really mad.

Luckily it has been raining and the mountains roads are very muddy so motorcycles cannot climb them. Franz made a sharp left onto a mountain road but the bikes just kept coming. Franz is a mountain kid and he knew the people where he was, he yelled out to them for help. When the bikes reached him the people were waiting with sticks and stones and started to hurl them at the bikers.

Needless to say the bikers were outa there and headed back down to the highway. Franz was very scared so he called a police friend of his and asked if he could send someone to escort him back to town. The friend and 3 other police went to see Franz and rode with him in the Gator back to town.

As they were coming into town the bikers were waiting but when they saw the police they did nothing. They just left my house now to go park the Gator for the night.

Time for a coffee.  Please keep us in your Prayers.

Lord Bless
PS: The picture is of a delivery earlier today, those are the food packs they were trying to steal

2016 Haiti Report #8

Hello everyone

My internet has just come back up, has been down for a day.
We continue to take food and Cholera medicine to the mountain people but the situation is getting worse everyday.  The mountain people are starting to become very aggressive, mostly due to their hunger.
Yesterday we took some food up to an area where the mountain people had to travel 6 hours to meet us. This trip use to take them 11 hours one way but because we have been Blessed with the Gator we are able to go up and meet them instead of them having to come all the way to town.

We started to load the food onto the donkeys and when the locals saw this they started to to yell and approached us. Thank God I knew them and told them I would be back to give them some. This calmed them down and we were able to finish loading and send the guys on their way.

The guys that came to get the food had 2 extra men with them, both had very sharp Machetes. I asked my friend Jenal the leader of the group “what is with the guys and the Machetes? He said Tony these people know you but we will be going through areas where they don’t, we may need to use them. They were more or less security. On our way down we were constantly being asked for food and help by just about everyone we saw.

While coming down we saw a man laying on the side of the trail with 2 woman trying to lift him up. The women told us they had been walking with the man for 2 hours because he was very sick. They were trying to get him to the hospital here in town but he collapsed. We were able to get him loaded into the Gator and traveled down the mountain to the hospital here in town.

He seemed to have early stages of Cholera. Today it is raining again which will only make things worse. Tomorrow we have 2 trips planned to deliver food and medicines again. Please keep us in your Prayers as we do what we can for these souls in Haiti.

I must never forget the GOD is in control.

Lord Bless
